On 3 December 2024, the MENAWET regional coordinator met with the Wetlands Team of the Libyan Ministry of Environment to discuss potential areas of collaboration. . The consultations explored how Libyan institutional and civil society actors could benefit from the MENAWET project, its regional activities and its network of wetland experts across the MENA region.

The official launch ceremony of the MENAWET project took place on May 13 in Ifrane in partnership with the National Agency for Water and Forests, and in the presence of national representatives of public institutions, associations, research institutes and universities, as well as guests from countries in the MENA region
