On 15 May 2024, MENAWET organised a workshop focused on the shared benefits of wetland conservation and restoration and on the exchange of practical experience between regional stakeholders.

The morning session introduced the MENAWET demonstration sites. Participants explored the ecological and local contexts of the selected sites, the challenges they face and the approaches proposed to support their protection and restoration.

In the afternoon, participants learned about wetland restoration projects developed through the Sebou Water Fund. The session highlighted practical experience from the field and provided an opportunity to discuss lessons learned, potential synergies and approaches that could be adapted to other wetlands across the MENA region.

The workshop strengthened knowledge-sharing between participants and illustrated how demonstration projects can help transform local experience into practical solutions for wetland conservation and restoration.
