On 30 September 2025, MENAWET launched its third project in Tunisia, implemented by its local partner Tunisian Campers. The initiative aims to promote the ecological and cultural value of the coastal wetlands of northeastern Tunisia while raising awareness among local stakeholders through immersive and participatory activities.
.
The first stage of the campaign, entitled “Sail to understand, film to raise awareness”, took participants to Ghar El Mellh, an exceptional Ramsar site comprising a main lagoon and several secondary lagoons. The visit highlighted the richness of this coastal ecosystem, its sustainable artisanal fishing practices and its renowned “Gattayas”, traditional floating gardens naturally irrigated by the interaction between freshwater and the lagoon. By combining field exploration, audiovisual documentation and direct engagement with local communities, the campaign seeks to improve understanding of these wetlands and encourage wider support for their conservation.
