On 14 October 2025, the Association for Environment and Development in Soliman, AEDS, continued a field intervention supported by the MENAWET regional initiative to protect and restore wetlands and freshwater ecosystems.

Implemented in coordination with and under the supervision of the local authorities, the four-day operation focused on clearing Oued El Bey and removing the blockages that were restricting the flow of water towards Sebkhet Soliman. The intervention followed a series of consultation and coordination meetings involving representatives of the relevant regional and local administrations, under the supervision of the chair of AEDS’s technical committee. Field teams continued to monitor the works to help maintain water flow and safeguard the ecological functioning of Sebkhet Soliman and its surrounding ecosystems.
